THE COST OF DISTRUST

Trust is a fragile thing. Easy to break, easy to lose and one of the hardest things to ever get back.

Most people usually talk about trust. Parents expect it, recruiters require it, and leaders demand it. In fact there seems to be a disconnect between the value of trust and the priority, which trust receives. Some people view trust as just a word for them or a motivational debate on which they can debate for long or a pile of books collecting dust on a shelf.

Why doesn’t trust receives that priority or importance which it actually deserves ? In some cases people often do temporary hacks or short term hacks. They do anything to get what they want and never thinks of the long term results by it. Others conclude that it’s hard to measure it that our words and actions have on trust, so why pay the price ? Let’s focus on what will happen in the absence of trust.

Distrust Can Demand A Heavy Price

Ruins relationships : Trust is the most important thing in any relationship. If their would be no trust, no relationship can stay for long. It’s a bond between two people and their relationship.

Ruins teamwork : If their would be no trust between the team members, then there would be lack of concentration as one person will not trust another and the work given to them will not end up as they wanted it to be.

Creates distraction : Distrust causes people losing interest or concentration on what they are up to and seeks to do the work which is less important.

Increases fights : Distrust loses the hopes and expectation of one person towards the another which leads to irritation and that turns into fight.

Lack of communication : Distrust causes dishonesty and lack of communication interest to each other.

So to maintain any relationship, it’s important to have trust between the individuals. It comprises the long and stable relationship rather being in distrust or transparency.¬†
